ABOUT

Polkadot USA was launched in 2001. Debra Schoenau, owner-designer, had a mission to create a beautiful, cozy, soft and feminine look for lounge and sleepwear for young, contemporary women across the US and Japan.

Her 18 year old daughter was her inspiration. Debbie wanted to see her in something other than her dads big old worn out tee shirts. It did not take her company long to create a successful line. Her fabrics were so special that her collection were becoming popular for outerwear, as well.

Debbie graduated from Boston University with a psychology degree and a degree in fashion design from Parsons School of Design in New York City. Her strong background coupled with her past business experience as a Department Manager and Associate Buyer at Bonwit Teller, sales representative for a Junior Sportswear Company, Palmetto's, allow her to assess the upcoming trends and react quickly to her customer¹s ever changing needs.

From design to distribution, Polkadot USA, started in New York City, however, the manufacturing is done in England, where they specialize in fine knitwear, and beautiful detailing. Polkadot USA, a whimsical name, was derived from the song 'Itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny, yellow polkadot bikini'. Undergrads and young hip women coast to coast are now wearing Polkadot USA.

Polkadot USA has been sold at Saks Fifth Avenue, Fred Segal, and other fine specialty stores. You could also find the collection at select yoga studios throughout the country.
